Trekking around Flores and Tikal

The jungle province of Petén in northern Guatemala is filled with ancient Mayan sites and rich wildlife that is best viewed by taking a trekking trip. There are several tour operators available in Flores that can arrange guided trips from easy day hikes to adventurous multi-day treks in the remote jungle areas and Mayan archaeological sites. Some of the favorite trekking destinations around Flores are the ruins of Yaxhá and Nakum. The terrain in Petén region is rather flat, which makes it easier for trekking, although it can be often hard to move in the dense jungle.
