Traveling to Sosua is done mainly via the international airport in Puerto Plata, less than 10 km away from Sosua. You can also travel to Sosua by bus from elsewhere in the Dominican Republic. Local public transport is offered by frequent minivans that carry people to the nearby towns of Puerto Plata and Rio San Juan.

The climate in Sosua is tropical with warm weather throughout the year. The temperatures are higher during the rainy season from June to October.
