Zakopane is Poland's ski resort number one. There are plenty of different level routes available for downhill skiing, in addition to which the area has over 50 ski lifts, the highest of which lifts you up to Kasprowy Wierch (1980 m). Other good places for skiing in Zakopane are Polana Szymoszkowa and Koziniez, which is suitable also to beginners. Snow conditions in Zakopane are generally good, with ski season lasting from December to April. In addition to downhill skiing, the area offers also some tracks for cross country skiing.
