There are plenty of dive sites on all three islands to explore, as well as several sites for snorkeling and swimming with stingrays and sea turtles. You can also find excellent sandy beaches on Cayman Islands, including the world-famous Seven Mile Beach on Grand Cayman that is regarded one of the world’s finest beaches. Sports fishing in Cayman Islands is a popular activity.

George Town, The islands' small capital offers areas for shopping on Cayman Islands, an old fort and a Maritime Treasure Museum, as well as the National Museum and the National Gallery of Cayman Islands that hosts exhibitions of local and international artists. A carnival called Batabano is held here around Easter. Grand Cayman Island is home to many historic sites such as Pedro St. James Castle built in 1780, a large turtle farm at Boatswain's Beach, and a famous attraction of Stingray City where you can swim with free stingrays. Mastic Trail is a hiking trail through Grand Cayman’s forested interior. Here you can also admire volcanic black rock formations in a place called Hell. Grand Cayman hosts a 18-hole golf course that is the place to play golf on Cayman Islands.

Little Cayman is a premier diving location with over 50 dive sites, beaches, kayaking and a nature reserve that is popular among birdwatchers. Cayman Brac also offers plenty of dive sites, as well as several caves, rock climbing possibilities, a lighthouse, a nature trail, a parrot reserve and museums.

Cayman Islands enjoy a tropical marine climate with warm temperatures around the year. There is a rainy season in the Caymans from May to October with occasional hurricanes from June to November, and a cooler dry season from November to April that is the peak season for tourism on Cayman Islands.

Traveling to Cayman Islands is usually done by air or on board one of the cruise ships that visit George Town, the capital of the Caymans. The international airport on Grand Cayman receives direct flights to Cayman Islands from many cities in the USA, as well as from Canada, UK and Jamaica. The smaller islands also have airports with mainly domestic flights from Grand Cayman.

Getting around. The island of Grand Cayman offers minibuses for public transport, but scooter, bicycle or car rental is a good choice to move around on the island. On the smaller islands it is the only form of transport. Taxis are available in George Town as well as in resort areas of Grand Cayman. There is also a local ferry on Grand Cayman and local boats can carry passengers between the islands.

Good quality services. Plenty of seaside condos and hotels on Cayman Islands are available, as well as good-quality restaurants on Cayman Islands, some with five-star menus. Majority of the few nightlife options on the islands can be found on Grand Cayman. The Caymans are a safe vacation destination with a very low crime rate, where English is spoken by everyone.

Short history of Cayman Islands

The Cayman Islands were found by Christopher Columbus in 1503 during his fourth and final voyage to the Americas. The first English visitor to the islands was Sir Francis Drake in 1586 who named them Cayman Islands. The British ceded the islands together with Jamaica in 1670 and settled them mainly in the 1700s and 1800s. The Caymans were administered together with Jamaica after 1863. Cayman Islands became a part of Federation of the West Indies in 1959. After it dissolved in 1962 the Cayman Islands have remained an independent British Overseas Territory. Due to the flourishing overseas banking and tourism industries, Cayman Islands enjoy one of the highest standards of living in the world. The Islands have also experienced more hurricane strikes than any other area and were last affected by a hurricane in 2004.
